From spiritual healing to satisfying social media posts, Jake takes a look at the surprising wellbeing trends of 2019…so far.
Elderberries
Berry good for your wellbeing — apparently, searches for recipes including elderberries have rocketed by 685% this year. Elderberries contain anti-inflammatories and anti-oxidants that are good for our hearts and help protect us from infections. Always a winner for wellbeing.
Crystals
It’s not clear why, but surrounding yourself with crystals, or using crystal-based products such as skin cream can really improve our wellness. The positive, healing energies emanating from the semi-precious stones just might be the secret to feeling calmer and more content.
Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response
Yeah, a bit of a mouthful but ASMR, as it is more commonly referred to, is a wellbeing trend that has really exploded this year. It involves listening closely to stimulating sounds which result in a tingling sensation throughout the nervous system. People peeling grapes, cutting up soaps, and even crunching washing powder are just some of the most popular ASMR videos on social media.
Scotland
Believe it or not, Scotland has recently been favoured by 32% of Brits as the perfect detox destination. It seems that the land of the brave and well is the place to go for a social media cleanse, waterside yoga or hilltop health-kick. Apparently, it’s so conducive to wellness that the Scottish tourism board, VisitScotland, has set up an online tour guide specificly focusing on the mind, body and spirit.
