We like to support local charities, and since the early days of Magpie have supported several charitable causes each year, the first being Music and the Deaf in 2010. We’ve been supporting Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids since 2014, baking cakes, supplying Christmas presents to disadvantaged children, and Ged donned full Bonnie Tyler get up for superhero day!
In 2015 we upped our game, set the fundraising bar higher and swapped our cake sale for a fancy dress run. On Cash for Kids’ Superhero Day we ran 5k through Leeds, dressed as superheroes; masked, caped and lycra-clad! We smashed our target, raising £1,232.19.
With this success under our utility belts we set ourselves a new challenge, upping our game and setting our sights on the Leeds Abbey Dash.
We swapped our capes and masks for a training programme, dusted off our running shoes and cranked up the motivational music. We completed the 10k in support of our client Foundation, and the work they do building social inclusion.
We also raised £150 for our friend Joe, who ran a total of over 100k (including the Yorkshire Marathon!) in support of Magic Breakfast and The Candlelighters Trust.
Just Giving have rated us in their top 5% of fundraisers for 2015, and we’re over the moon!
This year we’re planning on donating our time and skills to great causes, look out for our charitable challenges in 2016!
