Today is ‘Random Act of Kindness Day’ and everyone here at Magpie is doing something to brighten up someone’s day!

Observed on February 17th, National Random Acts of Kindness Day has grown in popularity each year. It is celebrated by individuals, groups and organisations nationwide to encourage acts of kindness and spread positive vibes. For us here at Magpie, this type of celebration is right up our street!

Here is what we have done to spread some extra cheer today:

Josh, our self-confessed music nerd, who loves listening to and sharing new music, put together a Friday Office Playlist on Youtube to inspire his clients to get through their last bits of work before the weekend starts.

Josh says, in his special DJ voice, which he uses when he talks about Music;

“The playlist starts off with some bright indie pop tunes, the playlist then spins some classics before making a rock’n’roll pit stop.”

Our Ideas and Imagination team started the day by collecting food to take to the food bank at St George’s Crypt. They have been encouraging the rest of team Magpie and their friends to empty their cupboards to support the charity for the homeless and disadvantaged with donations.

Our student teams have also been out and about on University of Leeds campus today running a Kindness guerrilla campaign – leaving notes of positivity around for students to find:

This afternoon the team started sending positive messages out in emails to give friends, families, colleagues or clients a Friday afternoon boost:

Our Birmingham team has been sending presents to selected friends through Doddle.  Catherine actually bought a VR headset and then revealed to Carl in the Doddle shop that he was he recipient!

Myles has supplied our team with afternoon treats and Pete has been offering a nice shoulder massage to anyone looking a little stressed (as well as donating some digital time to one of his clients):

And we have donated some design time to Fuel for Schools – a worthy beneficiary:

The energy has been electric today and it’s been great fun getting involved. We are going to take away some learnings from #RandomActsOfKindnessDay and we’d like to be part of a world in which RAOKs happen all year round!
