Yay Moments

An exciting and engaging direct mail piece to be sent out to all applicants on A-Level Results Day.

A-Level Results Day is one of the first key moments that Leeds Trinity University have to welcome their students to their community and get them really excited about starting their university journey that coming year.

It’s also a key opportunity to recruit more students, through confirming ‘insurance’ places (those students deciding to accept Leeds Trinity University as their place of study), and engage potential new students through clearing.

Leeds Trinity University approached Magpie to design a direct mail piece that would be sent out to students on A-Level Results Day, to:

  • Reassure firm applicants that Leeds Trinity University is definitely the place for them and get them excited to start their studies there.
  • To further engage with insurance applicants by letting them know that Leeds Trinity University is still considering them and they’d love to welcome them to their student community.
  • To link the direct mail piece with a social media campaign that would be visible to potential clearing students and encourage them to consider Leeds Trinity University as their university of choice.

The chosen concept celebrated A-Level students’ achievement of getting into Leeds Trinity University.

The concept was thoughtful and warm, with the surprise package containing an inflatable ‘yay’ balloon, a congratulations card and some sweet treats – because who wouldn’t want a celebratory gift on Results Day?

The aim of the mailer was to get students excited about heading to LTU and to encourage them to carry on their Results Day celebrations by share pictures of their gift on social media. This then would gain more exposure for Leeds Trinity University.

The branding of the Yay campaign was based upon the Love LTU student union branding. It’s bold and contemporary patterns and colours made the mailer striking and impactful when it landed on your doorstep.

"The campaign was amazing and we had lots of social media coverage as a result. Thank you for working on this with us!"
