Magpie is proud to work with Our Future Health, the UK’s largest ever health research programme, as a regional partner in support of ongoing stakeholder engagement in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
Our Future Health will build a resource that gives health researchers an opportunity to discover and test more effective ways to predict, detect and treat common diseases such as dementia, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Our role is to continue to build relationships in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester so that Our Future Health can recruit a cohort of 5 million people, from all backgrounds and from right across the UK, to take part in the programme.
We already have support in West Yorkshire including from Tom Riordan CBE, Chief Executive of Leeds City Council. He said:
“Leeds City Council is delighted to see Our Future Health begin its regional roll-out here. This is a large and ground-breaking programme – for the nation and the City of Leeds.”
Magpie will conduct interviews with key stakeholders, look for advocates and establish affiliates for this ambitious programme.
Affiliate charities of Our Future Health include the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK and the research programme is currently live in Leeds, Manchester, Huddersfield, Birmingham and more.
In the past, some groups have not had enough representation in health research which is why it is paramount to Our Future Health to ensure a diverse range of volunteers to reflect the UK population. This includes minority ethnic groups, UK regions & devolved nations and people with low incomes / resources.
