Magpie has been selected to design and build the new Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) website.
The recent tender process saw digital and creative agencies from across the UK competing to be chosen for the project, which will be fundamental in raising the profile of the school both nationally and internationally. The site will need to be choreographed to the same high standard as NSCD performances, attracting new students to the courses and prospective audience-members to the public shows.
NSCD is a centre of excellence, training dance artists in a conservatoire setting and preparing them for the professional world. The school has around 200 full-time students and also provides classes and courses for children, young people and adults. They also have a year-round programme of public performances at the Riley Theatre, which sits at the heart of the school site in Leeds.
“We’re really pleased to be working with such an innovative and creative organisation. We are not going to design this website, we are going to choreograph it” said Ged Savva, Director at Magpie.
“Our mix of arts marketing experience and strong digital credentials went down well with the team. Along with a fresh design that will highlight elements of movement and the creative journey, we’ll be improving the functionality of the site, incorporating video, more imagery, social media integration and improved interfaces across different devices.”
The new site will launch in the summer, ready for the new academic year in September.
Simone Hoggart, Marketing Manager at NSCD said: “Once again a huge thank you to Magpie for your energy, passion, openness and creativity.
“We are really excited and look forward to collaborating with you. I think you really understand what we’re about and what we are trying to achieve.”
