To mark the launch of our Trends publication – a compilation of 2017’s biggest, best and most bizarre trends – we’ll be releasing one a day in the countdown to Christmas. Trend twelve, The Future is Feminism.
With a notable rise in female focused events on campuses, and a strong feeling about equality in the workplace, feminism is a cause that keeps gaining momentum. No longer a woman’s struggle, men are getting involved in events with a female focus too. With young people keen to rally behind anything Trump condemns, issues like women’s rights, immigration, and equality are gaining more and more support.
Not since the days of the Spice Girls have feminist slogans been as prevalent in fashion. From ‘The Future Is Feminist’ to ‘Dump Your Boyfriend’, a new generation of Girl Power tees are sweeping the nation. And (surprisingly?) men are keen to jump on board, with feminism becoming a wide-spread trend in fashion as well as a movement to get behind.
